Fasteners used in the petrochemical industry should ideally be able to survive the harshest of environments. Equipment used for the drilling and transportation of oil and gas are required to bear with extreme fatigue conditions like extreme weather and high-pressure situations. At ITA Fasteners, we house a wide range of fasteners which are suitable for this very need. As a leading supplier of A193 B7 double end stud bolts and A194 2H hex nuts, our fasteners conform to the strictest ANSI, ASME, and ISO standards for ideal use in the harsh environments of the petrochemical industry.

These bolts and nuts can be used on high-pressure pumps and vessels, pumping stations and metering pumps. While regular fasteners are given added strength by manufacturing them with stainless steel, petrochemical fasteners are made with an entirely separate grade of materials and coatings.

A193 B7 Stud Bolts:

Stud bolts are threaded miniature rods which are used to hold together high-pressure flange connections in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry. Based on the piping system used in on-site and offshore equipment, the nuts could be of the hexagon or heavy hexagon type. While there are several types of bolts available for high strength constructions and petrochemical equipment fastening, stud bolts are manufactured specifically with dimensional advantages.

Primarily, a stud bolt is completely threaded on both ends. This enables a worker to secure compartments of petrochemical tubes by inserting a bolt on one end and receiving a nut on the other end. In most cases, since durability is the most expected property here, these stud bolts are manufactured using exotic alloys and metal grades which give the fasteners the electro-chemical properties expected out of it.

The threads on the stud bolts are carefully manufactured to be symmetrical with a V profile. This allows for easy installation of flanges. It also facilitates easy inspection and production. If the stud bolts are being manufactured using low strength materials like iron, aluminium and copper, they are mostly manufactured with coarser threads. In such cases, they are used for low precision applications. However, if the stud bolts are made using high strength materials like steel alloys, they are used for high strength applications as they provide a much higher tensile strength.

A194 2H Hex Nuts

Hex nuts are widely used with the stud bolts. The type of hex nuts used depends on several factors like the stud bolts’ diameter, length, grade of material, and thread type. At ITA Fasteners, we ensure that the hex bolts required for the petrochemical industry rightly complements the standards of the stud bolts. The hex bolts can be used in two ways - either both sides of the bolt can be chamfered or one of the sides can be used with a washer. This ensures that the load and tension are spread evenly. This also eliminates any risk of damaging the surface on either side.

Coatings of Petrochemical Fasteners

In order to protect the equipment and fasteners from the effects of petrochemical corrosion and abrasion, the stud bolts and hex nuts are often coated with protective coatings. These coatings can extensively protect your fasteners from galling, seizing and surface damage.

With ITA Fasteners, you can get your fasteners coated with high-end platings like zinc, cadmium, electroless nickel, as well as xylan coatings. Depending on the area of use and material type, we provide consultation on what coatings you can go for. Remember that the coating should be able to resist organic and chemical solvents, acids, chlorine and extreme weather.

At ITA Fasteners, we understand the criticality of every flange of every equipment in the petrochemical industry. We understand that there is no room for compromise on the quality of the fasteners you use. Therefore, we guarantee to use our industry expertise to help you reach all your fastening goals for every petrochemical equipment you design.
